Whether you are a Trekkie or not you will love this movie. The special effects are incredible, but more importantly the story line was compelling enough to keep us interested to the end. The cast were very similar in looks to the cast of the original Star Trek TV series cast and they portrayed the characters true to the original series, created by Gene Roddenberry. We got to meet James Tiberius Kirk before he became captain of the USS Enterprise, see Spock struggle as a child with racial prejudice (he was half human), and meet our old favorites, Uhura, Sulu, Chekov, McCoy, and Scotty. Aliens of both the friendly and monstrous kinds were plentiful and the plot was sufficiently sprinkled with humor, excitement, explosions and futuristic technology.
